WebsiteGeneral introduction
ContentForces Subscribe to Notification is a convenient way to inform your Intranet visitors about the changes in content made on your Intranet. In order to enable this function, the Intranet users can subscribe/unsubscribe themselves (voluntary subscribers) or be subscribed/unsubscribed by the website manager (obligated subscribers) to certain articles on your website. The mechanism behind it is based on the structure of your taxonomy tree – every article can have a contact list (ContentForces Contact List) assigned to it. The list comprises of contacts that will get notifications about the changes in the article that the contact list is attached to. When the website manager updates a particular article, he can manually trigger off sending a notification (via ContentForces Mail Manager) that contains details about the changes along with a direct link to its updated version. In order to enable this functionality, the Intranet users can subscribe/unsubscribe themselves (voluntary subscribers) or be subscribed/unsubscribed by the website manager (obligated subscribers) to certain articles on your website. Key benefits
- Makes the subscription to a notification about changes made on the website possible.
- Detailed notification messages.
Website visitor perspective
- Voluntary subscribing: Intranet user can subscribe to changes in the content of your Intranet by entering a page where all possible subscriptions are listed. He first needs to add his personal data (e-mail address, name, surname) and then make a choice for a subscription by selecting the check boxes located next to the possible subscriptions.
- An e-mail notification containing a confirmation link for the subscription is sent to the user. After clicking on the confirmation link, the Intranet user is properly subscribed to the notifications about changes in the selected topics (he either becomes a new contact or the contact data is updated).
- The subscribed user can edit his personal data and select/deselect subscriptions.
Website manager perspective
- Selecting the taxonomies for a subscription: the website manager can choose which taxonomies can be subscribed by the users. The configuration is made on the taxonomy level edit page and the status is visible on the detail pages.
- Deselecting the taxonomies for subscription: website manager goes to the taxonomy edit page and selects the empty value from the droptown containing contact lists.
- Subscribing obliged users: The website manager goes to the selected taxonomy page. After clicking 'Edit' he can select one of the contact lists from the dropdown (by default the dropdown has an empty value). After clicking the 'Save' button, the system automatically relates the taxonomy with a chosen contact list (publish is not required). All subtaxonomies get connected to the same contact list as their parent taxonomy.
- Subscribing obligated users: the manager can assign/unassign users to contact lists (Contact list). One user can be assigned to more than one contact list/taxonomy.
- The website manager can use the ContentForces Mail Manager to send notification messages to subscribers. The notification contains a direct link to the article, along with the information on the date of change, language and type of change (add, remove, update).
