General introduction

Nowadays, a well designed and user-friendly online shop is the part and parcel of almost any successful e-commerce website. The ContentForces Shopping Cart component allows you to substantially improve your online selling process. This component can be used for both, selling directly to consumers or for B2B transactions. Your online customer will have the possibility to put items from different groups of products into one Shopping Cart, as in a conventional supermarket. Moreover, he or she will be able to modify and view a list of the selected products before purchasing. The total amount for the particular order will be calculated automatically, including associated taxes (if applicable). Importantly, it does not include the checkout process (which is covered by the ContentForces Order Form component) and payment options (ContentForces Payment Integration Service).

Key benefits

  • Build and maintain a successful e-commerce site with CF Shopping Cart.
  • Provide a flexible and easy way to display goods and services to be sold via the web.
  • Increase flexibility of your online store to market its goods and services in a flexible, friendly and fast manner.
  • Improve buyer experience – happy customers become returning customers.
  • Various products can be bought and (along with the ContentForces Order Form and Payment Integration components) paid with a single payment.
  • Offers the potential to increase income generation from the audiences that were not within the reach of the traditional sales process.

Website visitor perspective

  • Your website visitor wants to buy one or more products or services from various groups of products.
  • In the most typical scenario, the website visitor would enter a group of products, see an overview of products in this product group, select the desired product and, in the case when he is decided to make a deal, click on the 'Add to shopping cart' button on the Product Detail page.
  • There is also a possibility to locate the 'Add to shopping cart' button on the Product Overview page. What is more, if your product database is divided into products and product variants, the 'Add to shopping cart' button can be placed on the Product Variant Detail page instead of Product Detail page.
  • After clicking on the 'Add to shopping cart' button, the website visitor is redirected to the Shopping Cart.
  • In the Shopping Cart, the website visitor sees the selected product and the basic order information: product name (optionally image), quantity, unit price and total order amount.
  • The website visitor can display the content of his/her Shopping Cart at any time by clicking on the 'Shopping cart' icon/button/link.
  • The website visitor can change the quantity of products or delete some products from the list.
  • Then, the website visitor can click on the 'Checkout' button and is redirected to the ContentForces 'Login' (or registration, in case of the first visit) component and after entering his user name and password he can start using the ContentForces 'Order Form' (and then process the order through the checkout). Optionally, the website visitor can buy selected products without logging in by providing his personal imformation (in case you decide to allow buying without a login).
  • Additionally, there is also the possibility to integrate the 'Small Shopping Cart' – where the website visitor can see the number of items in the Shopping Cart and optionally the subtotal for the order (the 'Small Shopping Cart' can be placed on almost all pages of your website).
  • If you decide to integrate the CF 'Shopping Wish List' component that enables saving some selected items for later, your website visitor will have the possibility to move some items to the 'Shopping Wish List' by assigning them the 'parked' status (by click on a link/button 'Buy later'). These items can be moved back into the 'Shopping Cart' at any time.

Website manager perspective

  • The Shopping Cart lists a product's name (optionally images) or code, price, quantity, Vat and, optionally, even some more data (needs to be defined during the implementation).
  • The website manager has the possibility to switch off the 'Shopping Cart' button when product is not available (therefore it is still displayed but there is no possibility to buy).
  • The contents of the cart are summarized and the total amount of the order is recalculated each time a new item is removed or added (including Vat if applicable).
  • Displays a checkout link when at least one item is added to the Shopping Cart (there is an option of a checkout link appearing only when a specific order subtotal has been reached).
  • The icon which enables previewing the contents of the cart can be accessed from many places on your website (also can be placed in the top navigation bar).
  • It is possible to define the amount of Vat for particular products/product groups.
